Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier was recently the recipient of a great honor in his hometown of Youngsville, Louisiana. ‘The Diamond’ received a ‘Key to the City’ for his work with The Good Fight Foundation.

Poirier and his wife Jolie run the organization to help underprivileged children and the habitats of the region. Poirier auctions his fight gear and more in a bid to raise money to run his organization.

It is a truly remarkable effort on Poirier’s part to take time from the glamor laden life inside the octagon to give something back to community and to those in need.

Poirier defeated ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor in his last fight at UFC 257, handing the Irish superstar his first loss by KO/TKO in MMA.

However, in a move that some may consider uncharacteristic of someone who lost, the Irishman donated half a million dollars to Poirier’s organization, ‘The Good Fight’.

It was a classy gesture on McGregor’s part to acknowledge the good work that ‘The Diamond’ and his wife have been doing outside the octagon.

Not so long ago, the Louisiana native was awarded the inaugural Forrest Griffin Community Award for his work with The `Good Fight Foundation.

He has received an award yet again. It seems like Poirier’s star is shining brighter than ever in all aspects of his life.

Louisiana’s finest is certainly setting an example with his deeds. Be it inside or outside the Octagon, ‘The Diamond’ seems to have his priorities set in an exemplary fashion.

Who’s next for Dustin Poirier in the UFC?

Poirier got the biggest win of his career as he shocked the world by avenging his loss to Conor McGregor. Both men are tied at 1-1 currently. It seems like a trilogy bout is the next logical step on their cards. It makes the most sense for Poirier to fight McGregor for the 3rd time next.

Nate Diaz recently called him out too. They were set for a clash at UFC 230, but the fight never materialized. A bout between the two stars will be a fantastic spectacle; however, for now, all signals point to a possible trilogy bout against Conor McGregor only.
