Dustin Poirier has revealed that his UFC 299 bout against hyped lightweight prospect Benoit Saint-Davis has been shelved. While the reasons for the fight being called off is still unknown, ‘Diamond’ has revealed that he is still training.

An exciting match-up, fans would no doubt be disappointed to see the dangerous #11 ranked Saint-Denis take on #3 ranked Poirier. The New Orleans native broke this news to the fans in a tweet and fans were outraged.

UFC 299 bout between Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint-Denis called off

Dustin Poirier tweeted an image of him in the gym and revealed in the captions that his fight against Saint-Denis had been cancelled. “My fights off but still working (fist emoji)” he tweeted. Since he is still training, this rules out the possibility of an injury on his part. And fans were puzzled at the cancellation, demanding more information from the lightweight.
