Dustin Poirier has been suffering from a Staph infection. Reports scared fans when ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto shared Poirier was not responding to antibiotics. Now a new tweet from ‘Diamond’ has some reassuring news. Poirier tweeted the antibiotics had worked and he will be out of the hospital soon. Poirier’s health condition, however, didn’t stop Conor McGregor from taking digs at Poirier. The jabs were returned with ample sting by ‘The Diamond’. The fighters challenged each other to a fight. McGregor also unleashed his trash-talking as he involved Poirier’s “missus” in a tweet.

Dustin Poirier had contracted a bacterial infection called the staph infection or staphylococcus infection. The bacteria that cause this infection reside on the skin or the nose. The infection had created a life-threatening situation for former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. This precedence scared MMA fans. But rivals McGregor and Nate Diaz didn’t feel the same way and took digs at him.

McGregor and Poirier’s heated online exchange

Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor felt little for his old opponent and didn’t shy away from sending his views across.
While McGregor laughed about Dustin Poirier’s illness calling it “Gonorrhea, Poirier reminded him of his previous losses. The Twitter exchange left fans wondering if a fourth fight between the two fighters was possible. The Tweet from Dustin Poirier about his recovery is only adding to the possibilities.

However, Dustin Poirier didn’t wait too long before returning McGregor’s insensitive tweets with venom. He accused McGregor of using steroids and took a dig at his upcoming Hollywood flick ‘Road House’.

The fighters have had a bloody history against each other. Poirier and McGregor have faced each other thrice and Poirier is leading the scorecards 2-1.

Will Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier fight once again?

Conor McGregor is looking to make a UFC comeback somewhere deep in 2023. He was sent out of the fighting game in July 2021. It was McGregor’s third fight against Dustin Poirier in UFC 264, where he suffered a severe leg injury.

The fracture has kept ‘McG’ out of the cage. It now appears McGregor has healed up. Pictures and videos show him in top physical shape. Fans also saw him sparring and grappling with no limitations on his leg.

If the bad blood between ‘The Notorious’ and ‘Diamond’ will paint the canvas for the fourth time is yet to be seen. Fans know that the beef is not over and the fighters aren’t done with each other yet. Conor McGregor, however, needs to deal with his USADA challenges before he steps into the octagon again.
