Dustin Poirier recently made an interesting response to Joe Rogan! The UFC color commentator had shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between the former interim lightweight champion and the surging French star, Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299! Saint-Denis, nicknamed “The God of War,” has showcased his ferocity with a perfect finish rate, including a recent head-kick knockout that earned him Performance of the Night honors at UFC 295.

Therefore, Rogan revealed that he finds Saint-Denis a “scary guy” in the division and claimed that he finds his skills “next level”. This led to Poirier and the fans responding with their thoughts on the upcoming matchup and the community seems to have already picked their favorites!

Joe Rogan, hosting the UFC 297 episode of his ‘Fight Companion’ series of the JRE (Joe Rogan Experience) on Spotify, praised Saint-Denis as a formidable and intimidating opponent! He stated, “I’m telling you, that Benoit Saint-Denis is next level. He’s got furnaces going in his eyes. You look into that guy’s eyes, there’s hell going on behind those eyes. He’s built for it. So, him vs Dustin is very exciting, and Dustin better be ready to go.”

However, Dustin Poirier casually responded to the post with an eggplant emoji, highlighting the fact that he is not impressed with the Frenchman’s accolades. As such, the fans came out to support Poirier in the comments and slammed Rogan for his take!

Some pointed out that people may be overlooking Poirier in light of his recent loss at UFC 291. “Call me crazy but I’m taking Dustin at + money, seems like everyone thinks he’s a bum now after the Justin KO.” Others stated that Saint-Denis is yet to fight an elite lightweight like Poirier.  “He’s never faced anyone on Dustin’s level.”

Fans also pointed out that Poirier’s loss to Justin Gaethje came against a ‘killer’ opponent and he is still a force to be reckoned with in the division. “Bro got caught by a killer in Justin and now everyone counts him out, he’s still one of my top 5 favorite fighters and he’s nowhere close to washed, even if he loses this fight you’ll all see it’ll still be a war.”

Fans also slammed Rogan’s take as he had made similar claims about other fighters who failed to live up to the hype. “Take it with a grain of salt Joe said the same shit about oezdemir.” And some also dropped a stunning fact that Poirier has never lost multiple fights in succession; “Just a reminder that dp has never lost 2 in a row”
