Dustin Poirier is one of the UFC’s most exciting fighters who is always fun to watch. Despite having a stellar career to boast about, Diamond has always been humble and stayed true to his roots. In a recent conversation, he revealed how he’s fought in some bizarre places.

Dustin Poirier has fought in the one place no one should

Dustin Poirier seems to have been dealt a good hand at the art of fighting. Whether it’s in the cage or outside it, ‘The Diamond’ would not hesitate to set things right like he did in this one instance he shared with Theo Von.

Von asked Poirier about the one time that he got into a scuffle at a police department which is a “crazy” story to begin with. Dustin Poirier opened up about a person who was tagging along with the group and ended up getting in trouble for stealing.

“I have fought somebody in the yard or the grass of the police station.” Said Poirier. “My my place I had when I was 17 was directly across from Lafayette Police Department. Yeah and one time, this is a crazy story, but one time we went out to a bar, my brother was playing his guitar there or something and a guy I was with, I didn’t really know him well he was a friend’s friend.”
“And he stole somebody’s purse at the bar and then he got caught and called out for it and we’re with him and I’m like oh, and then we start walking back to the to my house and we just got into it, and fought but yeah yeah was it fun.” Clearly, it was a troublesome moment and perhaps, Poirier’s hand was just forced. Or maybe it was the temper’s flaring. Either way, now he has left that fight far behind and the only one that matters is the one that’s coming next.

Will he fight for the title next?

Dustin Poirier showed his interest in going for the title after defeating Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299. Islam Makhachev soon heard about it and though he called ‘The Diamond’ undeserving of the shot, he was still willing to give it to him given that there are no other great options at the moment that interest the champ.

Now that Charles Oliveira is fighting Arman Tsarukyan, Poirier is a fight that makes sense. Unfortunately, the UFC has not been in touch with the 35-year-old regarding his next fight. He’s not heard anything from them but he told Von that he’s expecting to hear something “soon”.

Will Poirier finally win the undisputed title that he’s been after for so long? Perhaps soon, we will have a fight announcement. What are your thoughts on it?
