Fast forward to 2023, and Poirier has looked in fine touch lately. This response has ignited speculation that a fight between the two could be in the works. It seems like Poirier wants to fight a Diaz, no matter if it’s Nick or Nate. The 34-year-old does not have a clear opponent in sight right now. Another win in the lightweight division can take him closer to a title match.

However, Nick Diaz was originally in the welterweight division. He then shifted up to the middleweight division in 2015. If a fight between Poirier and Diaz is fixed, it will be interesting to see which weight division is chosen.

Nick Diaz’s last fight

Nick Diaz returned to the promotion at UFC 266 after serving a 5-year suspension. His fight in 2021 was against Robbie Lawler. It was an iconic rematch between the two. Diaz had won the first fight but lost this one by TKO. He was knocked down by Lawler in the third round and given a chance to stand back up.
