Excitement is on the charts as Dustin Poirier and Islam Makhachev are about to clash for the lightweight gold in just a few hours. The undisputed lightweight champion, Makhachev, is set to defend his ‘155’ title against Poirier, who is fighting for the belt for the third time. This will be Poirier’s third attempt at the lightweight gold, and it seems like it could be his final chance to claim it.

Amidst this hubbub, Dustin Poirier’s wife, Jolie Poirier has come forward to add a sweet message for her husband as he prepares himself for his last chance. Dustin Poirier has fought twice for the lightweight title: first against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242, and then against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269. Both times, ‘Diamond’ faced defeat. Interestingly, both of his defeats in his title bouts came by way of rear naked choke. We could state that this is his weak point, at least for now.

‘Diamond’ has stated that this would be his last rodeo in the fighting world if he does not secure the victory then he will not go behind the title and maybe retire from the fight world altogether. Ahead of his clash, Jolie Poirier has come forward to deliver a wonderful message for her husband. Jolie Poirier took to her Instagram handle to add a photo of Dustin Poirier with a caption that said, “It’s FIGHT WEEK for this beautiful man And just like that, another training camp in the books.”

She further added, “It’s been years of preparation to lead up to this moment in your career and I cannot wait to watch you make history on Saturday night. see you in Newark.”

Jolie Poirier has always been by her husband’s side through both victories and defeats. As ‘Diamond’ prepares for what could be his final fight, she will be there once again to support him. This time, a special someone will also be there to witness the fight, adding an extra charm to the occasion.

‘Diamond’ will have the support of his lucky charm at the fight

Dustin Poirier would be having the support of her daughter, Parker Noelle to UFC 302. This would be the first time that Poirier would bring Noelle to witness any of his fights. Why, you ask? Maybe because there’s a high possibility that this would be the final episode of ‘Diamond’s career in his dominant career in the UFC. While having a conversation with Ariel Helwani on ‘The MMAHour’, Poirier explained the reason why he would bring her daughter to the fight.

“My daughter’s gonna be there, front row, for the first time ever. I want to show her that you can accomplish your dreams…I think this might be the last time I get a shot at raising that belt up in the air, and I just want her to see it.” said Poirier. This decision by ‘Diamond’ got a mixed reaction from the MMA community as they all know that this might well turn as bloody as possible as both the fighters would refuse to give up.

Regardless, Dustin Poirier is hellbent on winning the title as he wants to set an example infornt of her daughter that irrespective of all odds one can achieve what he believes in.
