Dustin Poirier is a fan favorite for his action-packed style, but his biggest supporter is undoubtedly his wife, Jolie. And in a recent statement made on social media, Poirier’s wife brought to light “struggles” faced by the UFC star that the world may be unaware of.

Her comments come after Poirier had recently spoken out in an interview about dealing with “mental struggles” after his knockout loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 in 2023. And his wife’s confession showcases the bond between them that has seen them stand firmly beside one another throughout life’s ups and downs.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘The Diamond’ pulled back the curtain on the struggles he had faced after suffering a devastating knockout loss against Justin Gaethje via a head kick at UFC 292.

In his statement, he revealed, “After the Gaethje fight, man, I went through some real mental struggles. Man, I was going through some stuff… It was really bad.” He also emphasized that while his friends and business partners were there to help him, his wife Jolie, was a key figure in him finding his way out of the dark place that he was in.

And so, in a recent post on Instagram, his wife came out in support of Poirier’s struggles that the fans may not be aware of. She stated, “So incredibly proud of this guy. Not just for his performance but overcoming his own personal struggles. Fighting fights daily no one saw or knew existed. Doesn’t matter how much is stacked against you, you always make it happen in the most impressive ways.”

She also stated that “Enjoy it all FUTURE HALL OF FAMER”, as Poirier made a statement at UFC 299 with his impressive knockout of Benoit Saint-Denis, a dangerous prospect in the 155 lbs division.

The couple’s unwavering support for each other has been evident throughout their journey, showcasing the true meaning of partnership in both triumph and adversity. As Poirier continues to make his mark in the MMA world, his wife’s unwavering support remains a constant source of strength and inspiration.

‘The Diamond’ is open to a lightweight title bout in June 

Dustin Poirier is aiming to become the undisputed UFC Lightweight champion before walking away from the sport. At UFC 299, he faced Benoit Saint-Denis and secured a victory with a second-round knockout. His impressive win has also caught the eye of Islam Makhachev, the lightweight champion and Poirier may be up for another crack at the title soon! Speaking on The MMA Hour, ‘The Diamond’ stated, “Yeah, I’d be okay with June. I actually went into this fight with a couple injuries from camp… No, (June wouldn’t be a problem)”. His comments align with the statement made by Ali Abdelaziz, Makhachev’s manager on X, where he stated, “Dustin vs Islam in June especially since everyone else has fights. If the UFC is good with this then Islam would be game.”

According to information available online, the UFC has 3 events planned in June, UFC 302, UFC Riyadh, and UFC 303. If the proposed fight does materialize, fans will be hoping to see the two elite lightweights clash at one of the above 3 events!
