Take a moment, close your eyes, and imagine getting the chance to fight one celebrity. Felt surreal with all the attention turning towards you, right? Recently, the same exercise was asked of the bare-knuckle fighters Josh Dyer and Kathrine Paprocki. And Conor McGregor’s BKFC fighters chose to go up against Dwayne Johnson and Beyoncé. But do you know how the former UFC double champion felt about it? Let’s find out!

Prior to BKFC 74 on DAZN, fellow fighter Taylor Starling-Vespe had a brief conversation with the main eventers, Mike Richman and ‘D-Day’, along with Paprocki. ‘Killa Bee’ asked if the fighters could take on any celebrity, who would they choose? And without a second’s pause, Dyer named ‘The Rock’. But why would someone name such a muscular figure? Well, the BKFC light heavyweight title challenger claimed, “I feel like I could just bi–h slap the dude and there’s nothing he can do about it. Like, physically, there’s nothing that he could do about it.”

And when the question came around to Paprocki, she named the musical world’s sensation. She said, “Probably Beyonce. But only because like, I love her and I just want to put my hands on her.” That’s when ‘Killa Bee’ pointed out that Beyonce actually deserved to be hit just because her concert tickets were usually around $3000. Nevertheless, the BKFC strawweight contender couldn’t stop being a ‘mad’ Beyoncé fan girl.

The visuals of the interview soon found their way to Instagram when BKFC’s official IG account shared them on its profile. The caption of the post read, “Slapping the rock is crazy,” followed by a laughing emoji. But when ‘The Notorious’ came across the post, he decided to share it on his Instagram Story, marking it as an affirmation to let his fighters battle against their celebrity opponents if situations permitted.

But does this actually mean that Johnson and McGregor were in some kind of beef? Let’s find out!

How does the relationship between Conor McGregor and Dwayne Johnson look?

McGregor and Johnson have often talked about each other with nothing but admiration in their hearts. The former WWE star once admitted that he saw himself in ‘The Notorious’. Back in 2015, when ‘Mystic Mac’ secured that epic 13-second KO win over Jose Aldo, ‘The Rock’ said, “Everyone has a punching chance. Conor ain’t no joke, he’s a bad dude. And Aldo’s a bad dude too… What I love about Conor is… [with] Aldo, there’s a quiet confidence. And Conor, the confidence is NOT quiet, and it reminds me of how I was in the WWE.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Conor McGregor's nod to celebrity fights a genius move or just a publicity stunt?

Have an interesting take?

Of course, that was a time when McGregor backed his words with his actions – something that the fighting community has missed ever since talks about his return went viral. Later in 2018, Johnson weighed in on a documentary about McGregor via Instagram. He praised everything that the Irishman worked for. After all, success came to those who worked the hardest. ‘The Notorious’ felt elevated with the shoutout.

The former double champ responded to Johnson’s words with, “Thank you, Rock! Your work ethic is inspiring to me, and I appreciate these words very much! Big respect, my Uce.” What’s Uce? It’s Samoan for brother. He put quite some effort into paying respect to the WWE legend, don’t you think?

However, there is a bit of healthy (and indirect) rivalry between the two. Johnson took to the realm of acting and found huge success in Hollywood. With action-packed films like Jumanji, Rampage, Black Adam, and many others, ‘The Rock’ has recently come into the spotlight for his work with The Smashing Machine, which happens to be based on the life of pioneer heavyweight star Mark Kerr.

But McGregor wasn’t too far behind. Long before the trailer for Johnson’s new movie came online, the Irishman declared that he was the highest-paid actor with his performance in Roadhouse. Nevertheless, the relationship between ‘The Rock’ and ‘The Notorious’ stays strong. But that definitely doesn’t mean that Conor McGregor doesn’t want Johnson in a ring.
