Marshall Von Erich took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a clip of Dwayne Johnson and Joe Rogan discussing ‘The Rock’s father and grandfather’s time with Fritz Von Erich. He was surprised that one of his idols looked up to his grandfather. “Crazy to think someone I looked up to as a kid looked up to someone in my family when he was a kid. @joerogan @TheRock,” Marshall wrote.

The Jumanji star responded to the tweet and told Marshall that he had fond memories of not only his grandfather but also of working with his father and uncles, Kevin and Kerry Von Erich when he was starting his own illustrious pro wrestling career.

“I sure did brother. Your dad and uncle Kerry were my heroes as a kid – back when my dad and granddad both wrestled for your grandad, Fritz.
Kev & Kerry used to throw me around the ring at the Sportatorium in Dallas.
Wild wrestling history both of our families have together.” he tweeted.

With the presidential election due next year, the two men got to discussing politics. Johnson revealed he had been approached last year to run for President of the United States. He told Joe that he was flattered, and it got him thinking that either he had incredible leadership skills or the country was in such a dire situation that they needed a movie star to run the country.

But there have been several Hollywood, and pro-wrestling stars who have transitioned into politics. Arnold Schwarzenegger served as the Governor of California while Glenn Thomas Jacobs, better known by his ring name ‘Kane’ is serving his second term as the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

One take at a time

Hi, I am Kanishk and I am a UFC Writer at EssentiallySports. I love telling the stories of these magnificent fighters and this wildly unpredictable sport that is so frustrating and yet so joyous at the same time. I never really used to watch MMA, thinking it too crude or brutal a sport to deserve respect.
