Not for the first time, the former IBF bantamweight champion, Ebanie Bridges, came to the defense of Conor McGregor. A user on X called McGregor an “embarrassment” and claimed that Bridges’ association with the former UFC double champ did nothing for her. Bridges is an ambassador of McGregor’s new stout brand ‘Forged Irish Stout and has been seen hanging out with Conor McGregor on multiple occasions.

But it was still surprising to see Bridges so vociferously defend ‘Mystic Mac’, given this was not the first time someone made distasteful comments about him on their posts.

Bridges posted a clip of her post-fight interview after she defeated Shannon O’Connell to retain her IBF female bantamweight title in December 2022.  In the comments section, one fan questioned her association with McGregor which led to a back and forth.

Taking exception to the fan’s comment about McGregor, Bridges responded, “You don’t know Conor personally, do you? You just judge him for what he shows online…  Don’t be so quick to judge people. He’s very smart and successful he knows what he’s doing and he’s far from an embarrassment.” The fan then replied and said McGregor wasn’t his “cup of tea,” and agreed with Bridges that he doesn’t know McGregor personally. The Australian boxer was ready with another response.

She replied, “Exactly, u don’t… But don’t say he does nothing for my status… Look how many fighters he sponsors look how much he gives back to combat sports. Yet fight fans sit here and hate.” To Bridges’ credit, McGregor’s brands have sponsored big names like Ireland’s Katie Taylor and Dana White‘s prospect ‘King’ Callum Walsh.

The fan then wrote another response dragging McGregor’s wife, Dee Devlin into the discussion, asking how she would feel seeing her husband “over barely dressed women“, stating it was disrespectful to the mother of four.

The X (Twitter) war would continue as Ebanie Bridges fired back, writing, “Are you in Dee’s shoes tho? How you know what she thinking??” The back-and-forth eventually ended with the fight fan backing out after the 37-year-old Australian did not give him any ground.

Bridges has stated previously that she and McGregor have been friends for a while. Last month she traveled to Dublin, Ireland, and partied in one of McGregor’s pubs. Bridges shared pictures from the night out with McGregor and former two-weight champion and professional boxer Jasmina Zapotoczna. Back then also, she had to defend his friendship with the Irish MMA fighter after one fan questioned, “Out together AGAIN,” alongside the ‘snidey eyes’ emoji. To this, Bridges simply responded, “That’s what friends do.”

Interestingly, she also recently went back and forth with a UFC veteran on the same platform.

A few days ago, Ebanie Bridges took to her X (Twitter) account to share that she took a young girl on a spin on her Porsche 911, after finding out the latter’s love for the car. She also encouraged the young fan to chase her dreams. However, UFC veteran, Darren Till would retweet the post, writing, “Train hard & get ya tits out online girls & you can have ur own Porsche 911 too…” throwing shade on her OnlyF*ns career.

Ebanie Bridges would respond, writing, “Thanks for the attention and traction @darrentill2, it all helps my bank account. Love ya. Never seen u fight or really do anything tbf except moan and b*tch about women on here lol…but I will be watching your next one”

Most fans backed up the Australian boxer on the back and forth, listing out all the things that Ebanie Bridges does for the sport of boxing,  letting people understand how she visits grassroots gyms, inspiring the next generation of boxers.
