Joe Rogan explains Neuralink to ‘The Rock’

During a casual conversation, Joe Rogan delved into the intriguing realm of technology capable of deciphering thoughts and intentions. Rogan expressed a strong conviction that barring self-destruction within the next decade, we might find ourselves in a scenario where such technology enables a profound understanding of each other’s thoughts.

“We have to get to a point where technology allows us to legitimately read people’s thoughts, and I think that’s coming quicker than we realize. I think that’s around the corner. I think that’s 10 years from now. If we don’t blow ourselves up within 10 years, we’re going to be able to read intentions, we’re going to be able to know thoughts, we’re going to be able to know things,” said Joe Rogan.

Johnson then asked Rogan how this could happen, to which Rogan asserted that Neuralink is being developed and will aid us on the journey “Probably some sort of a wearable device initially, and then probably higher bandwidth applications. Especially for people that have neurological conditions and spinal cord injuries, they’re going to start implanting, like Neuralink. And one of Neuralink’s first goals is to try to bring people that have spinal cord breaks and people that have lost control of their muscles back to mobility.”

Interestingly, there was a time when Rogan claimed that Neuralink is a dangerous tool and warned his guest Mark Boel about the technology.

The time when Rogan termed Neuralink ‘dangerous’

While having a conversation with Mark Boel on his podcast, Rogan stated that the technology to alter the human brain is dangerous. “What I think is going to happen and this is not good or bad. I think it’s inevitable. I think technology is going to… There’s going to be a new technology that emerges and changes things as radically if not more than what the internet has done. And I think most likely it’s going to be human neural interfaces,” said Rogan.

He further explained how Neuralink will work. Rogan added, “They’ll use it initially for people with ALS and various injuries and diseases where they can’t control their muscles anymore. It’s gonna rewire the way the mind interacts with the physical body. But I think ultimately it’s gonna remap the way people communicate with each other.”
