Alex Pereira perhaps won’t be short on motivation if he intends to take back the UFC light heavyweight championship from Magomed Ankalaev.

After Pereria’s disappointing defeat at UFC 313, Merle Christine, his ex-girlfriend, took to social media and celebrated ‘Poatan’s loss. She shared a video where she congratulated Ankalaev for becoming the new light heavyweight champion. On the other hand, she believed that it was karma that put Pereira on the losing side. Christine said, “No more Chama. Karma. He lost on International Women’s Day. Maybe that’s a sign guys, I don’t know. New light heavyweight champion, Ankalaev, congrats. He did a really good job. If you guys are talking robbery, you don’t understand anything from MMA.”

Furthermore, Christine completely dismissed the idea of the decision at UFC 313 main event being a robbery for Pereira. According to her, the Russian won fair and square. She continued, “So, let’s not talk about robbery. That’s completely BS. This guy won and actually he got this title shot very late, right? So, I think we should give him some props. Even if we don’t like him or don’t like his fighting style we should give him some props. No more chama.”

It didn’t take long for Christine’s video to go viral on the internet. MMA Orbit also shared the clip on their X profile.

Fight fans stand in support of Alex Pereira as his ex-GF trashes his UFC 313 defeat

Many fans connected Alex Pereira’s scenario with that of Dmitry Bivol. Following Bivol’s defeat at the hands of Artur Beterbiev, his ex-wife, Ekaterina Bivol, took to social media to celebrate the outcome of the bout. But little did she know that her words would motivate Bivol to defeat Beterbiev in a rematch on 22 February. Weighing in on this, one fan commented, “Bivol’s ex started a trend I guess.” Another fan wrote, “Good news is, some boxers ex did this, and he then came back and won the rematch.” One more fan added, “I’ve seen this movie before, Poatan wins the rematch lmaoooo shout bivol.”

And the fighting community started to believe that Pereira was also on a similar path. With the words from Christine reverberating throughout the internet, ‘Poatan’ must actually be getting ready to reclaim his throne. And the fans seemed to know it. One fan wrote, “Alex is gonna have this on repeat in the gym.” Another fan commented, “She just started the comeback arc.” One fan kept it short and straight – “Embarrassing.”
