There have been a lot of speculations about Alex Pereira‘s relationship status with Merle. Did they break up or not? Well, Pereira has finally opened up about his split with Merle and the reason is shocking. In a conversation with ‘Full Send’, the UFC light heavyweight champion got candid.

When the Full Send reporter questioned the fighter about his split with his ex-girlfriend, Pereira said, “Well, it’s a little hard to talk about this because for me, I already deleted this person from my life. I would also like to ask my fans to also delete her from your life.”

“It was a person I believed, I put her in my house, with my family. After all, I found out, she was married.”

Merle is a well-known TV presenter and interviewer. Her love for combat sports is no secret. In fact, fans have seen her training videos on her Instagram account.

Back in December 2023, Pereira and Merle’s break up was heavily speculated amongst MMA fans. A resurfaced video of ‘Poatan’ pranking Merle with a fake proposal right in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris went viral and further fueled these rumors. But there was no confirmation as neither of them commented on it.

While Alex Pereira’s new revelation has finally cleared things up, it may have further confused some fans.

MMA fans speculated commitment issues and disagreements to be the reason for their break up. But Pereira’s revelation was not something people expected. One fan that exact sentiment and commented, “Wait…WHAT?!!”

The Brazilian fighter is one of the most feared names in the UFC. With a 9-2 professional MMA record and wins over fighters like Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland and Jiri Prochazka, who would have thought Pereira would face something like this? “If one of the most dangerous guys in this sport was getting played like this… we all ain’t safe,” wrote an Instagram user.

On the other hand, some people found humor in the way Alex Pereira narrated it with a stone-faced delivery. “Saying that with a stone face is what got me. I mean it is a stone face thing but it’s somehow funny when Alex says it. Chama!” Another person commented, “he’s trolling right ? I haven’t seen the full interview lol.”

Referring to Pereira’s revelation about Merle being married, an Instagram user stated, “That last part came outta nowhere like a Poatan left hand.”

However, things didn’t end there. Fans started bringing UFC fighter Ian Garry and his wife into the discussion. As per information available, Garry’s wife’s ex-husband is his nutritionist. The fighter got trolled by fans because of his personal life and the dynamics he shares. Now, after Pereira’s new comments, some social media users drew a connection between the two. “She makes Ian Garry’s wife look pretty good girl,” commented a person.

Clearly, this isn’t something people were ready to hear. On the UFC front, Pereira doesn’t have any fight scheduled. He last fought against Jiri Prochazka in November 2023 and became the light heavyweight champion. Hence, people want to see him defend his belt soon.
