David Feldman is a happy man. The BKFC founder and president had to scrape together the money for BKFC 41 in May this year by refinancing his own home and is now looking forward to a cracking card at BKFC 56 in Utah on December 2.

The bout will see superstar Mike Perry take on Eddie Alvarez in a bare-knuckle middleweight bout next month. Feldman spoke about his reaction to their intense face-off in our exclusive ES FanCast with Noah Lack.

Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will take on former UFC welterweight and BKFC superstar Mike Perry at BKFC 56. The two had an intense face-off in the run-up to their bout, where they traded body shots with each other. Noah Lack asked the BKFC president what his reaction was to the face-off.

Feldman said that he was happy at first to see the two trade body shots, as he felt it would make a viral moment. However, his happiness soon turned to horror when he felt that it might escalate into a real brawl, and lead to the fight being called off.

“At first bang-bang they hit each other on the body and I was like ‘this is pretty cool, this is gonna go a little viral.’ Then they did it a few more times and I’m like ‘you know what, I know what happens- someone’s gonna crack someone in the mouth,’ and I was like ‘alright guys, that’s it,'” he told Lack on our exclusive ES Fancast.

He felt that the face-off was a close call and said, “Wow, man. That almost blew up, I could tell… Yeah, man that was a nervous thing.” Further, Feldman thinks that if Perry can overcome an opponent of Alvarez’s caliber, he would be counted among the greatest bareknuckle fighters on the history of the sport.

In his exclusive ES FanCast episode with Lack, Feldman said that Mike Perry, who has become the face of bare-knuckle boxing in just three fights, personified the sport with his grit and toughness. However, he felt ‘Platinum’ has a tough opponent in Eddie Alvarez and he needs to win against the former UFC champion to establish himself among the greatest.

“He’s (Mike Perry) got a tough test in front of him here, though. He really does. But, he personifies bare knuckle. He’s just a rough, tough dude. He talks the talk, he walks the walk… But he’s got a tough fight ahead of him with Eddie Alvarez on December 2nd. And if he gets past Eddie in the fashion he thinks he’s going to he proves he is… certainly one of the best bare knuckle fighters in history,” he said.

Hi, I am Kanishk and I am a UFC Writer at EssentiallySports. I love telling the stories of these magnificent fighters and this wildly unpredictable sport that is so frustrating and yet so joyous at the same time. I never really used to watch MMA, thinking it too crude or brutal a sport to deserve respect.
