The whole drama surrounding the horrible weight machine that cost Charles Bronx’ Oliveira his title at UFC 274 continues to unfold. ‘Do Bronx’ may have been stripped, but he continues to remain at the top as the number 1 contender. His victory over Justin Gaethje not only cemented his place in the title picture, but he continued to be seen as people’s champion.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani, UFC light-heavyweight champion, Glover Teixeira backed fellow Brazilian and shared his thoughts on the drama.

Helwani quizzed about the whole incident and this is what Teixeira had to say,” Man, umm, he is still the champion for me, you know? Uh for everybody in his mind, he’s probably the champ, you know. It was… it was crazy……was ridiculous. If he was a couple pounds over, I would say like unprofessional on his part. But, he is half a pound and everybody knows about the scale problem. Yeah man, he is the champion man, he is still the champion. And If they strip him, that’s the law, then that’s the law.”

Teixeira understands that there are certain rules everyone has to abide and hence, he doesn’t feel like it is okay to complain. He added,” I am not gonna sit here and say oh, that’s wrong you know, it is kinda wrong, but what are you gonna do? It’s a law.”

The lightweight title might lie vacant, but ‘Do Bronx’ still has his name attached to it. His win over the American mixed martial artist in the previous event has once again turned him into the number one contender. While the promotion still figures out who should the Brazilian challenge next for the world title, Oliveria has tossed a name into the hat.

Charles Oliveira calls out UFC Star Conor McGregor for a dream match

Right after his victory at UFC 274, Oliveira did not waste any time and immediately called out McGregor. He stated he is willing to face anyone and especially the former dual weight champion.

Oliviera said, “Hey Dana White, I don’t care. Put anybody in front of me. I don’t choose. Hey Conor McGregor, are you stepping up or running away?”

In response, McGregor has seemed hesitant to make the cut back to 155lbs again. The mixed martial artist hasn’t won a fight at 155lbs since 2016, which would make his chance to fight for the title all the more difficult.
