Actor Jake Gyllenhaal and former MMA fighter Jay Hieron are currently filming for the upcoming movie Road House, which is a reboot of the 1989 classic film. Gyllenhaal plays the role of Elwood Dalton, an ex-UFC fighter. He is preparing for a showdown against his opponent played by Hieron. The film also features Conor McGregor, who arguably is the biggest name in the world of MMA.

One interesting aspect of the movie is that some scenes were filmed at a UFC event. Also, a fight scene had been filmed in the octagon itself. This is a unique opportunity for fans of both the UFC and the movie to see these worlds collide in a way that has never been done before.

Jay Heiron talks about the slap from Jake Gyllenhaal

One scene, in particular, has caused quite a stir in the MMA community. Gyllenhaal and Hieron filmed a face-off at UFC 285, where Gyllenhaal slapped his opponent, while in character, causing chaos to erupt. Hieron revealed in an interview with MMA Fighting that the slap was real, adding to the intensity of the moment.

Talking about the alleged slap, he mentioned, “He [Gyllenhaal] was the one who told me ‘Jay, I’m thinking how about I smack you at the weigh-ins?’ and I said ‘f*** yeah’ because I knew that was going to make it more real and you were going to get that realness out of it.

He further added, “He [Gyllenhaal] went for it. No doubt. That wasn’t no stunt slap. He went for it. That’s what was great about it. We talked about it before and he’s super respectful and he’s like ‘what do you think?’ and I’m like, let’s go! Don’t even think about it. Whatever you feel out there, let’s go do it and that brings stuff out of me and it looked great. We got a lot of great feedback. It’s just amazing for the UFC to even let this happen.

This scene is sure to be one of the most talked-about moments in the movie. It adds to the realism of the fight scenes.

It understandably thrilled Hieron to be a part of the film and to be back in the UFC environment. In order to make the scene look as real as possible, the former MMA fighter had no problem taking a real for real.

Jay Hieron about being back at UFC

In the interview, talking about the excitement, he mentioned, “If you would have told me when I retired that I’d be back in the UFC in an acting scene with one of the top actors, I would have been like no, you’re s****** me.” Although he was not fighting, but just being around his old-time colleagues and friends made Jay Hieron nostalgic and happy.

Hieron‘s comments highlight just how special this opportunity is for him. It’s clear that the filming of Roadhouse has been an exciting and memorable experience for everyone involved. Fans are waiting to see Conor McGregor make his Hollywood debut alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
