In a recent interview with ‘Sky Sports’, Usman spoke about McGregor. He thinks ‘The Notorious’ is at a point in his career where he’s just talking and trying to stay ‘relevant’. While Usman acknowledged McGregor’s achievements, he doesn’t think Conor McGregor would be able to stand against him.

Speaking about his own ground-and-pound game, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ said, “You could ask [Gilbert] Burns about how my ground and pound is and you can ask [Jorge] Masvidal about how my sloppy boxing is!

“Everybody has their opinions, and it is what it is. But when you step inside that octagon with me, I have said it, I am the judge, the jury and the executioner inside that octagon and I will do as I see fit.”

While McGregor has previously fought at welterweight, his presence in the division was a while back. His latest fights have been in the lightweight division. However, after recovering from his leg injury and looking for a comeback, it looks like McGregor isn’t too interested in cutting too much weight.

Further in the interview, Usman said that he isn’t taking McGregor’s call out seriously. Instead, the welterweight champion called McGregor a ‘clout chaser’ and that he likes to attach his name to those on the top. Now, since both the fighters have spoken, it would be interesting to see if this potential matchup materializes in the future.
