“Failure Is Our Fuel” – Kayla Harrison Says Amanda Nunes’s Loss Is a Great Opportunity for Her

Julianna Pena shocked the world at UFC 269. She took on Amanda Nunes for the women’s bantamweight title and handed the Brazilian her first UFC defeat since 2014.

After taking some heavy shots in the first round, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ put pressure on the Brazilian. She was able to rally back and submit Nunes in the second round. The result shocked everyone across the world, and among them was her teammate, Kayla Harrison. In a recent interview, she talked about the result.

She said, “I think I was just in shock, I think the whole world was in shock. I think Amanda was in shock. Credit to Julianna, she executed a great game plan. She pressured her early, and she ate those big shots and wasn’t afraid to keep coming forward. I think it’s a smart game plan.”

“Failure is our fuel. It’s our opportunity to grow. We don’t grow if we don’t get challenged and I think this is a great opportunity for Amanda to grow,” she added.

Immediately after the fight, the new champion has been calling for a rematch against the Brazilian. Nunes is open to the same. However, her preparations will take place in a new setting.

Amanda Nunes leaves American Top Team

The Brazilian MMA fighter has decided to make a tremendous change in her career. The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion parted ways with her long-time gym, American Top Team. This news came after her devastating loss at the hands of Julianna Pena at UFC 269.

Nunes, who had joined ATT back in 2014, is now planning to open her own MMA gym in Florida.

Despite her losing the bantamweight title, she is still the UFC women’s featherweight champion. The Brazilian is one of the greatest to ever do it and will look to bounce back immediately from the loss.
