Falling Prey to His Own Doing, Conor McGregor’s Return Will Not Happen Per Latest Confession by UFC Veteran

Conor McGregor announced on New Year’s eve that he would return to the UFC on June 29th, 2024. However, there are many who still aren’t sold on the fight. While his opponent, Michael Chandler works hard in camp, MMA veterans and fans alike still wonder if the announcement made by the Irishman was yet another sham.
Let’s face it, Conor McGregor loves trolling and he seldom cares how brutal it can get. The way he does things, he could have just put Chandler into camp just to troll him. This makes sense given his ‘Notorious’ nature and the fact that Dana White has maintained radio silence about the announcement. Here’s an interesting take on the subject from another UFC veteran.

Conor McGregor and his return have so far been a myth. Why? Because A) Its greatness is hyped to the mountains and B) No one can confirm it. The return of mythical proportions is something that irks a lot of people, including UFC veteran Matt Brown.
Brown is a welterweight who has been in the UFC for almost 16 years now. In a recent conversation, he listed down a few points as to why it doesn’t make any sense for McGregor to return. And one has to admit, what he said was pretty much on point.

“Is Conor going to fight again? I don’t believe it still. Until I see it, I’m not going to believe it… He doesn’t need to fight. What purpose does it serve him?” Brown questioned. “He’s not getting back to a title. He’s not going to do anything significant ever again. He’s got $500 million in the bank. What’s a few million for fighting somebody like Chandler? What’s that going to do for him? That would be like if I gave you $10.”

If you were broke, you would take $10 from Brown any day of the week. But that can’t be said about Conor McGregor, who has made himself the richest MMA fighter out there. Will this be his undoing as an elite MMA fighter? And Brown is not the only UFC vet out there raising similar concerns. Even Michael Bisping questioned the “version” of McGregor we would see in case the return actually came through.

Michael Bisping is not sold on the motivation behind McGregor’s comeback
Michael Bisping is yet another icon and veteran who is famous for his breakdown videos, and his fighting career, of course. Discussing the return of the ‘Mac’, Bisping brought up an interesting point about the bout.
The Irishman is rather fortunate and deservedly so. When he started, he famously claimed that he would be happy when his mother had a “big mansion” and his kids’ kids’ future was looked after. Suffice it to say, he has achieved all that and much more. So if he does get back into the cage, what will motivate him to be his most ferocious self? Would it be Chandler’s presence? Or perhaps the fact that the Irish government is after him for his dangerous X posts? There’s no one way to tell.
