Famous UFC Announcer Bruce Buffer Breaks His 25-Year Streak- Will Not Announce at UFC 267

UFC 267 will take place this weekend inside Etihad Arena at “UFC Fight Island” on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Unfortunately, one of the biggest events of the year will miss one of the most important aspects of UFC. Bruce Buffer, who has been the Voice of the Octagon for over 25 years, will not attend UFC 267.

According to UFC president Dana White, Buffer contracted COVID-19, which prevented him from traveling. In a pre-fight press conference, he said, “Buffer got COVID. He didn’t want to make this trip. He’s home relaxing and recovering from COVID.”

This is the first time that the 64-year-old will miss a UFC PPV in 25 years. Hence, Joe Martinez will make his PPV bow.

Russian bantamweight fighter Petr Yan is one of the most dominant fighters in the UFC. He certainly dominated his opponent, Aljamain Sterling, in his first UFC title defense. However, one mistake cost him his bantamweight gold. ‘No Mercy’ landed an illegal knee in the fourth round of the bout, which had him disqualified at UFC 259.

Both the men were scheduled for a rematch at UFC 267. However, Sterling pulled out from the fight due to a neck injury. This was another blow for the former champion, who will have to compete for the interim strap.
