Tony Ferguson: An Overview
His fan-favorite status aside, Ferguson has struggled to make massive moves in terms of his viability as a title threat. He’s had a rather off-key 2020 as he suffered two straight losses, in dominant fashion no less. Moreover, he went from being an interim title player to being bumped at the back of the line for contention.
Ferguson was on a 12-fight win streak heading into 2020, however, he ran right into Justin Gaethje at UFC 249. He was finished in the final round, on his feet no less, and ended up needing several months off. Additionally, his campaign didn’t get any better as he suffered a brutalization at the hands of Charles Oliveira.

Another brutal loss against a top contender may set him back to a place of no return in terms of contention. UFC 257 on January 23, 2021, will provide a lot of clarity in terms of the direction that needs to be followed for Tony to make a comeback.
