The former UFC contenders displayed jaw-dropping skills as they fought with all their might. Although the two went head-to-head, Mendes had to face defeat at the hands of the debutant with a knockout in the fifth round.

But Conor McGregor‘s former opponent stole the spotlight with a tremendous cheer from the crowd as he officially hung up his gloves. The former UFC featherweight contender debuted in BKFC in February 2022 and announced his retirement about a year later. As the clip of the speech found its way to social media, the fans quickly took to the comments section and wished the fighter a happy retirement. Undeniably, the fans deemed the American mixed martial artist to be a legend.

BKFC immediately shared the clip of the announcement on Instagram. Undeniably, the MMA fans took over the comments section with nothing but good wishes for the warrior. BKFC thanked Mendes for his amazing job at the promotion. Furthermore, fellow fighter Gaston Reyno revealed his desire to see the sixth round of the fight. Nevertheless, most of the fans wished him a happy retirement.

‘Money’ Mendes won over the fans’ hearts with his retirement. He thanked the fans for the support they had for him. Undoubtedly, he seemed grateful for the memories and the opportunity he had at BKFC. Moreover, he thanked Dave Feldman and commended the promotion for taking care of the fighters. 

He said, “Hey, I just wanted to say thank you to all of the fans. This has been a lifelong career for me. I started wrestling at the age of 5-years-old, never took a year off all the way up through this now. So, I’m officially hanging them up tonight, guys. Thank you very much for all the awesome memories through all my UFC career, coming into bare knuckle. This was some of the best opportunities that I’ve had my entire career fighting for these guys. They really know how to take care of their fighters. So, I appreciate it. Thank you, Dave [Feldman]. Thank you all.”
