Israel Adesanya talks about his mindset before UFC 287

The Nigerian fighter was talking on his YouTube channel, ‘Freestylebender’ with internet personality Nedd Brockmann. Brockman asked Adesanya about the thoughts he had two weeks before UFC 287. As a reply, the UFC middleweight champion said, “Bro, trust me like for me personally, it’s you know, it’s funny every time. I see people and they come to talk to me. Take a picture or whatever they’ll be like, ‘oh yeah go get that belt. Make sure you bring that belt back home’ and for me, in my head, I’m just like f*ck the belt. I’m gonna knock him out. Yeah, beat the sh*t out. I don’t say that, just kind of like it, just like it rings in my head.

Soon after talking about his thoughts, ‘The Last Stylebender’ went on to detail what he thinks about his fans. He added, “Fans are fickle, don’t get me wrong. I understand this game now and I’ll never shy away from telling the truth. Fans are fickle but then you get some people because when they’re in a group in a mob they can be so stupid but when you have people one-on-one sometimes you get the coolest people man.”

Who will be the next opponent of ‘The Last Stylebender’?

Following his victory over ‘Poatan’ at UFC 287, Adesanya made it abundantly clear that he has no interest in facing his long-time rival again. Instead, it has been decided that he will await the outcome of the upcoming bout between Robert Whittaker and Dricus du Plessis. Whittaker and du Plessis are set to collide at UFC 290.

"Like many, my journey into the beautiful game began by watching the mesmerizing Lionel Messi, as his impeccable vision on the pitch and role as a playmaker, meticulously calculating the path to goal always amazed me. This fascination with the finer details of soccer strategy naturally extended to my interest in content strategy. However, my zeal for being a soccer content analyst is not only because of Messi's magic, as I am a keen follower of the Becks as well. While in David Beckham, it was a special affinity for his mastery of crosses, passes, and set pieces, in Victoria Beckham, the fashion queen, I find inspiration in how she masterfully navigated the world of aesthetics and brand identity. This unique blend of admiration for both the tactical intricacies of soccer and the world of fashion and entertainment helps me to cover the game from angles that seamlessly balance sport and entertainment. Before joining EssentiallySports, I worked as a content analyst as well. A Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature from a premiere institute has helped me hone my writing skills and given me a unique perspective on the world of sports. Interestingly, besides soccer, I also extensively covered UFC, especially the Joe Rogan podcast. In my free time, I enjoy reading and keeping up with the latest developments in the world of sports.
