Holding not one but two black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Joe Rogan is someone who can hold his own when it comes to MMA. The UFC color commentator was once seen training UFC fighters T.J Dillashaw and Danny Castillo at the Onnit Headquarters in Austin, Texas. Displaying his MMA prowess, Rogan was demonstrating a modified D’Arce choke on both experienced UFC fighters and giving them pointers. But an old footage of his sparring session with the legendary Muay Thai fighter John Wayne drew flak from the fans.

Rogan has often welcomed fighters to train in his personal MMA gym whenever they come over to do his podcast. So, it was not a surprise when he had John Wayne over to spar with him, however, things didn’t turn out the way Rogan intended.

As mentioned earlier Joe Rogan has two black belts to his name and also won the Taekwondo US Open in 3 different divisions, as well as a 2nd place at Nationals. Rogan also trains regularly and has expertise when it comes to MMA, but during a sparring session with John Wayne, he appeared to be out of sorts.

Back in 2015, Joe Rogan invited famous Muay Thai fighter John Wayne Parr on his podcast. During Wayne Parr’s feature on the podcast, the two trained together and had a friendly sparring session. In the clip, Rogan can be seen wearing a black outfit taking the fight to his opponent. However, the fight is slow, and he misses a lot of his shots. Later on, he can be seen mostly on the defensive trying not to get hit. He throws a sweet whirl kick that misses its mark.

He then gets jabbed in the face for it before both the fighters retreat toward the edge of the enclosure. Toward the end of the clip, we can see Rogan feeling tired and walking around slowly as he tries to get some shots on Wayne Parr. Rogan’s showing in the session was enough for fans to call him out for his movement and attempts to get the better of Parr.

UFC fans always find a way to bring out the humor in any situation. This time around, Rogan had some fans claiming that they could probably take him in a fight if it were up to them. Here are some of the top reactions from this Instagram clip.

With 4 straight Massachusetts state titles in full contact Taekwondo, perhaps Rogan might not be that easy to take down, but some fans called out his efforts in the session. A fan described it as “Not good,” while labeled him as “Too slow and too stiff.” One of the fans simply wrote “terrible”, we are guessing he was not a fan of Joe Rogan’s MMA skills displayed in the clip.

Another fan guessed at age being a factor for the host of JRE and commented, “Old age always gets you.” A fan also pointed out that the usually exuberant Rogan was not himself. He wrote, “He looks scare as s**t.” One fan though empathized with the UFC commentator and wrote, “Just tired, we all look like that when we gassed.”

Well, fans especially those from combat sports can be unforgiving at times. While Joe Rogan does a great job as a podcaster and a commentator, fans were not so convinced about his MMA skills, at least not from this clip with John Wayne. Do you agree with the fans’ comments on Rogan?
