One of the most interesting things about long-time UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, is his knowledge of combat sports. The 54-year-old Rogan has been in the industry long enough to have learned the career patterns of some of the greatest athletes in the sports.

That being said, Rogan recently broke down an infamous strategy used by the undefeated boxing greatest Floyd Mayweather on the latest episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, with comedian, Brian Simpson.

Rogan had a thorough conversation with Simpson about Mayweather’s unmatched boxing skills. He explained how ‘TBE’ is the best in terms of not getting hit by his opponents.

During the conversation, when Simpson made a point about ‘TBE’ cherry-picking his opponents, Rogan replied, Every boxer wants to do that. It’s a smart thing to do. Up until you get to a certain point. And then you have to fight the other champions. But it’s a smart way to maximize your money.”

“It’s a smart way to get more ring experience. And you know, it’s a smart way to keep defending your title. Like a lot of guys would rather fight a guy when he’s slightly over the hill,” Rogan added.

Further on, Rogan also explained how ‘TBE’ played the long game with Manny Pacquiao and waited till he was older and slower to face him. However, Rogan believes it to be a smart move by Mayweather.

Joe Rogan says Floyd Mayweather would get decimated in an MMA fight against Conor McGregor

As much as he believes ‘TBE’ is the best at what he does, Joe Rogan has another side of him that says he wouldn’t last long in an MMA fight. Mayweather once defeated one of the greatest MMA fighters, Conor McGregor, via knockout, in a boxing match.

However, Rogan believes the outcome would have been different if they clashed in the MMA cage. In one episode of his podcast, Rogan stated that ‘The Notorious’ would completely dominate the boxers inside the octagon with his vicious kicks, punches, and elbow strikes.

“How many of those can you take? You don’t have a chance. Floyd is phenomenal at what he does. But if you put takedowns and kicks into that, it changes everything. He’d be f**ked.” Rogan said.

While backing up his statement, Rogan explained one needs to have a long history of grappling and kicking to face the likes of McGregor inside the cage. His statement seems logically given McGregor’s mastery in mixed martial arts.

Do you agree with Rogan about the outcome of Mayweather’s MMA match with McGregor? What are your thoughts on the breakdown of Mayweather’s strategy? Let us know in the comments below.
