Jan Blachowicz successfully defended his light-heavyweight title for the first time at UFC 259 against UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. The Polish fighter proved that he is the main man in the 205lbs division. But Blachowicz is past his victory already and has already started looking at his potential next challenger in Glover Teixeira.

Teixeira is currently on a 5-fight winning streak in the light-heavyweight division. His last 2 wins have come over former title challengers in Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos, respectively. The 41-year-old Brazilian is looking to get another crack at UFC gold. He has previously challenged Jon Jones at UFC 172 in 2013 and lost a decision.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani about his potential next fight, the current champion Blachowicz said, “He’s got a lot of experience. He’s older than me. Finally someone older than me. Big experience, great jiu-jitsu, good boxing.”

“It’s gonna be good fight. He’s much better fighter than he was couple of years ago. Now he knows how to train. He’s not young anymore. He needs to train little bit different way and smarter way. That is sometimes better for you. So, it’s gonna be a good fight,” added the Polish fighter.

Blachowicz won the 205lbs belt by defeating Dominick Reyes at UFC 253. The 38-year-old has finally established himself as the best light-heavyweight on the planet. He had a troubled start to his UFC career as his promotional record was 2-4 at a point. But he has picked up the pace since and won 9 out of his next 10 fights.

When will Jan Blachowicz fight again?

Blachowicz came out mostly unscathed of his fight against ‘Stylebender‘. One can expect him to be back in action after serving the mandatory medical suspension. And at 38, he doesn’t have much time left. So, he will look to make the most of that opportunity.

And he has a worthy opponent yet again in fellow veteran Teixeira. The Brazilian is also making a last run for the UFC title. So, it will be a great fight once finalized.
