It is a known fact by now that Tom Aspinall was left pretty upset with the latest fight announcement of Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. While the interim UFC heavyweight champion wants to get his hands on Bones, the heavyweight champ, on the other hand, wants to fight his last match against Miocic and hang up his gloves.

But why is he so adamant about retiring? While Aspinall is trying his best to vocalize his opinions that fall on deaf ears of Bones, what is making the 37-year-old stay away from the Octagon after his fight against Miocic? Well, the answer to the question has been offered by none other than Daniel Cormier.

In his recent interview with Ben Askren on his Daniel Cormier YouTube channel, DC and the former ONE Champion discussed the possibility of having Aspinall as the opponent to retire Jon Jones. While Askren said that since the two are in the UFC, fans should get to see the fight, “Why can’t we see them? They’re both there; put them together!” DC believes there is more than meets the eye.”

According to Cormier, Jones has achieved everything he wanted in his life, and there is no major push for him to make him have another fight. One major factor can be his latest purchase, a $5 million mansion in New Mexico. He said, “He could just be sitting around making money. Yo, Jon Jones just bought like a $5 million house! I saw a picture of him—a $5 million house. That’s a beautiful house; the guy’s obviously doing well. He probably just doesn’t want to fight anymore, and that’s fair. So what happens? Right, you walk away. I believe that when push comes to shove, they may nudge him.”

Aspinall is surely running out of patience now. While he started calling out the 37-year-old in a much more respectful fashion, now he has a lot more aggression in those callouts. Time and again, the English MMA fighter is trying to tick off Bones by accusing him of taking the easier fights such as the one with Miocic. However, even Jon Jones has doubled down on his attempt to squash Aspinall’s dream.

Jones might just leave Aspinall hanging!

Despite conflicting reports hitting the internet, Jon Jones has shown serious determination in trying to avoid the fight against Aspinall. Fans and fighters such as Ben Askren are desperate to see the two inside the Octagon to settle the debate. However, as mentioned by Daniel Cormier, Jones seems content with leaving everything behind after his one-on-one with Miocic.

So when a fan on X told Bones that he would be tarnishing his legacy by avoiding the fight, Jones had some serious words to share. He said, “Maybe I’ll leave you with the blue b*lls, but my legacy will be fine. I’ve worked on this game. There are people all over the world who have been watching me fight for as long as they can remember. I would have to go on and win like 10 championships at least for that.”

Well, it surely looks like this is the last run for the MMA goat. Now all fans would be hoping for is that he gets to walk out with his head held high. What do you think? Will Jones actually retire after the Miocic fight? Let us know in the comments.
