“F**k That Cage…”: Joe Rogan & Paul Felder Lobby for a Huge Change in the UFC Octagon

Joe Rogan has some unique and interesting thoughts about the sport of MMA. The UFC commentator and podcast host comes up with wacky ideas on his show and fans love it. Usually, his guests are also supportive of the ideas as well as intrigued by them. Moreover, one thing is for certain these ideas are sure to be discussed in his famous podcast. Recently, the 55-year-old welcomed fellow UFC commentator Paul Felder onto his podcast and the duo had one idea that can potentially change the sport of MMA and especially UFC.
Joe Rogan and Paul Felder discuss alternatives to an MMA cage
The UFC commentators shared their feelings toward the rules of the sport in the JRE MMA #135 show. During the episode, they also discussed some fighters’ physiques. They were discussing certain points systems in the sport and criticizing certain aspects of it. Furthermore, they started to share their opinion on the UFC octagon and cage structure. It was at this point that Rogan decided to add his suggestions for alternatives.

Rogan said, “I also think they should be fighting on a football field. F**k that cage… The cages gets in the way.” Felder added that the fighters are accustomed to the cage structure to which the fear factor host agreed.
Felder then suggested, “If the UFC suddenly threw ropes out there, people would be like, “what? what the? I don’t know how to fight anymore” Because you are so used to takedowns on the fence.”
However, Rogan added, “Well, if you go to Pride. Ropes are not the way either because guys get caught up in ropes… That’s not good either…Not even the platform just like a flat surface,” Felder suggested a basketball court to which Rogan replied, “If you can play basketball in a court, why can’t you have an MMA fight in the court.”
The conversation took a bizarre turn as the duo started discussing the head injuries that would occur.

Both the UFC commentators agreed to place a mat on the court owing to gruesome injuries. Felder added, “Because then you would just gonna break bones”.

Rogan continued, “Yeah, you’re gonna break bones and also head kicks. When guys go down, their head bounces off. I fought in a lot of basketball courts in the Taekwondo days.” Felder resonated with his UFC commentating counterpart.
Rogan concluded the conversation, “The point where the make guys wear pads at the back of their head… one of the scariest thing is the bounce.”
