The 27-year-old Chechnya native has flawlessly cut through his opponents in the UFC, but this fight against Gilbert Burns was different. The Brazilian gave Chimaev the toughest fight of his career and even cut the Russian multiple times. Although Burns showcased his experience and MMA prowess and put up a possible fight-of-the-year performance, he couldn’t trump ‘The Lone Wolf’, who also fought to the best of his abilities.

However, the war between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns has divided people into two opinions and many believe that it was Burns who won the fight. The war that the two welterweights carried on until the final round had both of them exhausted and bruised, but it was ‘Borz’ who was awarded the unanimous decision win.
