The UFC’s light heavyweight and heavyweight picture is rapidly shifting, all thanks to Alex Pereira. Following a career-defining title fight win at UFC 320, the Brazilian star is yearning for a dream showdown against Jon Jones at the White House, leaving Dana White perplexed regarding the state of the 205 lbs division. But luckily for the head honcho, former double champion Henry Cejduo has an idea.

Over the past weekend, two new contenders have come to the fore to make their cases for a title shot. Carlos Ulberg and Jiri Prochazka, both of whom earned TKO victories in their last fights. While Henry Cejudo believes one fighter could secure a title shot against Alex Pereira, he doesn’t think the same for the other. But despite the two possible title contenders at hand, ‘Triple C’ appears to believe that ‘Poatan’ will get his wish, and so will Jon Jones.

Henry Cejudo has ideas for Dana White, with Alex Pereira asking to fight Jon Jones

Henry Cejudo believes that Alex Pereira‘s dominant win last time out has put him in a prime position to get what he wants. Despite Dana White’s reluctance, the observance of the current situation with the White House card and ‘Poatan’ regaining his credibility in a massive way at UFC 320 has led Cejudo to be certain that the 205 lbs champ is indeed fighting Jon Jones.

” I’ve heard him say it in Portuguese, ‘I want superfights. I want heavyweight.’ And according to everything that’s happening, I do believe that Jones and Pereira will headline the White House,” ‘Triple C’ stated on the Pound 4 Pound podcast.

When it comes to the current landscape in ‘Poatan’s division, Henry Cejudo was pretty direct when he claimed that pitting Alex Pereira against Jiri Prochazka for a third time wouldn’t do any good. But Carlos Ulberg is a whole other situation, given that he’s on a 9-fight winning streak and will be a fresh opponent for Pereira. So, Cejudo proposed a few other fights and wants Dana White to consider them to keep the division moving.

“As for Ankalaev, I think you’re gonna have to see him and Jiri go at it. They’ve talked a lot about who’s the best in Europe back in a couple years ago. There’s been a lot of drama between the both of them,” the former double champion added. “I would like to see them and just see what the UFC does, and maybe give Ulberg somebody like Khalil or somebody in that realm.”

Several MMA personalities, including arch-rival Daniel Cormier, have been calling for Dana White to add Jon Jones to the White House card. Although White is hesitant to rely on ‘Bones’ for the mega event next year, ‘DC’ claims that having Jones ensures a win at the White House, the seat of American power. However, the former two-weight champion recently lost his brother, Arthur Jones, due to a medical issue, so there have been no statements from Jones’ end about a potential fight against Pereira.

Meanwhile, the buzz surrounding a Pereira vs Jones fight could prove to be an issue for another top star in the promotion. According to Daniel Cormier, Tom Aspinall might lose credibility as the heavyweight champion now that ‘Poatan’ has entered the mix.

Daniel Cormier claims Pereira could dim the shine of Tom Aspinall

Tom Aspinall has been on a pretty dominant run in the UFC. Many believe that Jon Jones decided to stall and eventually vacate the belt when he briefly retired to avoid fighting the Englishman. But Cormier claims that he’s not been able to raise his status as a star like Alex Pereira has, even though he’s put down one opponent after the other in the UFC. And the fact that ‘Poatan’ has shown more interest in Jones and not the champion of the heavyweight division is a significant issue for Aspinall.

“If Pereira does move up, why isn’t he chasing the heavyweight champion? That’s the biggest problem with Tom yet. For as dominant as he has been, he hasn’t necessarily hit that point where people go, ‘I’ve got to fight this dude because I know that the value in a victory is so great that I am willing to take the chance,” Daniel Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “If I put Alex Pereira against Jon Jones, Tom Aspinall, and Ciryl Gane, Pereira may be the underdog. But does it bring the same type of recognition or value to a victory as fighting Jon Jones?”

UFC White House is still far away, and the focus is currently on the upcoming superfights like the one between Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena. But it’ll be interesting to see how Dana White navigates this situation and if he repays Alex Pereira for the many times that he’s stepped up to help the CEO.
