Former two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is all set to move up to another weight class. Deiveson Figueiredo is moving to the bantamweight division
There is no doubt that the bantamweight division is one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC today. It consists of some of the most technical fighters that the sport has to offer. As such, Deiveson Figueiredo, after spending the majority of his time as a 125-pounder, has finally decided to join the bantamweight division, according to Marc Raimondi. Moreover, his decision to move up in weight class comes after he failed to become the undisputed flyweight champion at UFC 283.

It is important to note that, given that he lost his last fight, ‘Deus Da Guerra’ would have had to take a long route to get back into the flyweight title contention. Hence, his move to bantamweight is justified in a sense. Moreover, Deiveson Figueiredo has often mentioned having a hard time cutting weight. So his move to the 135 lbs division will help him get rid of that strenuous process. When it comes to his first bantamweight opponent, it’s none other than Rob Font.

‘Deus Da Guerra’ to fight Rob Font in December
Rob Font, after winning his UFC 287 bout against Adrian Yanez, stated that he’d love to welcome Deiveson Figueiredo to the bantamweight division. Moreover, he claimed that the fight between them could be an interesting one, and as fate would have it, Font got his wish. Figueiredo will make his divisional debut on the 2nd December event against him.

Given that Rob Font is just a year older than Figueiredo, he seems to be the perfect opponent for the Brazilian’s first 135lbs outing. He possesses excellent boxing skills and can give the former flyweight champion a run for his money. Moreover, Font would seek to bounce back from his recent loss to Cory Sandhagen.
