The UFC is gearing up for some more exciting fights ahead. Several big events have been lined up. However, a particular fighter took the time to speak about his personal life ahead of his return to the Octagon after a long time. He is none other than Luke Rockhold.

Luke Rockhold, who fought back in 2019, will get back into the Octagon after a lengthy hiatus. At UFC 278, Rockhold will face Paulo Costa. However, there seems to be a big reason for his return.

The fighter also dated pop star, Demi Lovato.

In a conversation with Mike Bohn from ‘MMA Junki’, Rockhold talked about some of his personal struggles. He said, “I did have an abortion, and I did have a big, big breakup. And it was just like, there’s a lot committed and trying to, you know, I’m 37 and, you know, wanting that, needing that and then, it all falling apart and it hurt, you know.”

“It definitely was a big turning point in realizing where my life was and where I’m going.”

“You know, I mean, having a kid on the way, and prepping for that and carrying the weight of a kid and another. You know, it weighs on you to where you want to be, put yourself in that place later in life. And having them make that decision, a lot of things just weren’t right.”

“There wasn’t a lot of truth on both sides, on either sides and it just f**ked me up. And it made me f**king transition and really change my life for the better.”

The fighter further said that he has been sober ever since. He is super-pumped up to get back into the Octagon and wants to give a lot more to the sport.

Paulo Costa versus Luke Rockhold: Can Rockhold defeat him?

The former Strikeforce and UFC champion will face Costa at UFC 278 in Salt Lake City. The event takes place on August 20.

UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori have shown that Costa is beatable. However, the fighter brings some real power with his punches and kicks. The Brazilian wins most of his fights through KO/TKO.
