Mike Goldberg is a known voice for UFC fans. He has not only served the UFC for a long time but has worked with NFL, Bellator, and even in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls. He worked with the UFC for the longest time working as a play-by-play commentator. Goldberg made his debut in 1997 and carried on till 2017 when his UFC career came to an abrupt end after UFC 207. Goldberg has now disclosed details about the time he met UFC president Dana White for the first time after being relieved of his services in the UFC. He recalled the time he saw Dana White and his son encouraged him to go and talk to him.

Mike Goldberg had a long UFC career, but the exit was not the kind that suited someone like him. He was not allowed any time to say goodbye to his fans, and the promotion didn’t send out any tributes marking his farewell. This hurt and disappointed Mike Goldberg and his family for some time. He, however, mentioned the meeting with Dana White that changed it all.
Mike Goldberg remembered meeting Dana White
Talking to Ariel Helwani on his podcast, Mike Goldberg revealed a lot about the time after his departure from the UFC. He remembered a chance meeting when he was with his son, who was playing in a hockey tournament. He recalled, “I walk out and I see Dana in the valet area with a couple of buddies and he’s getting into his car, he’s leaving probably after a dinner or a little bit of gambling as we know with the UFC president Dana White.”

Goldberg then describes the moment his son says the UFC lynchpin, he said, “And my son Cole looks at me. He goes, ‘Dad, that’s Dana.’ And honestly, I froze. I did not know what to do.”
While he was apprehensive initially, Mike Goldberg went up to the president at his son’s behest.

He added, “Do I say hello? Do I not? What do I do?” Goldberg continued. “And I’m usually a guy who’s got a pretty good instinct. And my son, God bless him, he’s like, ‘Dad, go say hi.’ And I did and I shook his hand and I said, ‘Thank you for everything.”

Mike Goldberg appreciates the time he spent in the UFC
The Bellator Commentator seemed very appreciative of his time at the UFC. He said he felt “blessed” to be so busy and traveling from one fight to the next fight. He accepted he was much more appreciative of his blessings now as compared to earlier. Goldberg felt he started seeing things in a better light once the ‘sting of negatives’ went away.

Some voices become irreplaceable for a certain sport. With the live telecast of sporting events growing every day, commentators have become the on-ground eyes and ears of the audiences. It was only fair for Mike Goldberg to have expected a proper farewell from the UFC after two decades of service, but the meeting with Dana White seems to have worked well on the scars.
