Former UFC Title Challenger Paulo Costa Taken to Police Station for Elbowing a Nurse Before Luke Rockhold Fight

Paulo Costa, the former UFC middleweight title challenger, has found himself in legal trouble before his UFC return in August 2022.

The Brazilian combatant Costa is currently running on a two-fight skid. However, he is preparing for his next fight against a prominent middleweight fighter, Luke Rockhold.

However, according to the reports made by MMA Junkie, ‘The Eraser’ has found himself in trouble recently after allegedly striking a nurse with an elbow.

The incident happened on Monday 2022 at a shopping center in the city of Contagem. ‘The Eraser’ went for a Covid-19 vaccination, where he got into a dispute with a nurse.

However, the UFC middleweight contender was later accused of striking a nurse with an elbow during the dispute. Costa and the nurse were later taken to the Contagem Duty Police Station.

However, the former UFC title challenger had a different side of the story. As the reports suggest, Costa stated that the nurse grabbed his arm and, in an effort to set him free from her, his elbow struck the nurse.

Luke Rockhold dislikes Paulo Costa

Luke Rockhold is making his comeback to the UFC after a two-year-long hiatus. The former champion will fight the number four middleweight contender Paulo Costa.

‘The Eraser’ lost his last two fights in a brutal way. One in 2020 via a second-round knockout and another in 2021 via decision. He even failed to make weight in his last fight. Despite that, Costa frequently makes uncanny tweets and call-outs on his Twitter account.

Hence, the fighter has been on the radar of many. “I think he’s just, obviously it’s, he looking for a way out at times. He’s not a 100% in and that’s a dangerous place to be. And I’ve been there, not a 100% in,” Rockhold said while talking about Costa.

“I don’t like him. First of all, I don’t like Paulo Costa. I don’t think anybody in there, any decent men in the world… you look at the guy, and you’re just like f**k. He’s on the different side of Sean Strickland. But two, both just horrible human beings,” Rockhold further added.

Both the fighters have seen a downfall in their current UFC runs. Hence, it is an important fight for both Costa and Rockhold. A win here is important for them to stay relevant in the division.
