The heavyweight division is as exciting as it’s ever been with people talking about a potential fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. The Manchester native has been touted to be the one to hand ‘Bones’ his first clean defeat, given how agile he is as a fighter. Even Joe Rogan seems to believe that the Englishman is one of a kind, and recently, even held him higher than former UFC champion Francis Ngannou regarding one particular aspect.

Ngannou was a force of nature in the UFC because his power was what defined him. After registering vicious knockout wins over Alistair Overeem, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and Stipe Miocic, Rogan had no doubt that ‘The Predator’s power is unmatched. However, the 57-year-old believes there’s one aspect that Tom Aspinall is better at in heavyweight than Ngannou, which is his speed.

“Aspinall is a freak. Like, I’ve seen a lot of heavyweights, even Francis, who’s like the greatest [and] scariest power striker I’ve ever seen in the heavyweight division,” Joe Rogan told his guest Derek from ‘More Plates More Dates’ on the #2239 JRE episode. “Tom Aspinall is significantly faster than every other heavyweight. That’s a real problem.”

Although Tom Aspinall has three professional losses to his name, he’s yet to lose a fight cleanly in, just like Jon Jones. His only UFC loss came via a TKO when he took on Curtis Blaydes for the first time but blew his knee up. So does that make him better than Francis Ngannou as a heavyweight? Well, the Cameroonian-French star still claims to hold the best heavyweight tag.

Despite Joe Rogan’s comments, Francis Ngannou still believes he’s the best MMA heavyweight

Jon Jones’s win over former 2-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic sparked discussions about his claim to the throne of the best heavyweight in all of mixed martial arts. However, Francis Ngannou doesn’t think that’s the case. The former UFC and current PFL champion, while talking about the much-anticipated and dream fight between him and Jones, gave the current UFC heavyweight champion his flowers as the best fighter ever.

However, as a heavyweight, who has fought only twice in that division so far, Ngannou doesn’t think he comes close to the status of being called the best, which is a title he believes is reserved for him. “I still believe Jon is the great fighter. As far as fighting is concerned, I think he’s the best fighter,” Francis Ngannou told ‘TMZ Sports’. “I personally can’t classify him as the best heavyweight of all time. Come on, man. He’s established as a fighter, but not as a heavyweight. I claim that title. And there’s an opportunity to settle that. We can settle that once and for all.”

However, Ngannou has never brought up Tom Apsinall’s name in this conversation. But do you think the interim champion should be in such a conversation about the best heavyweight in MMA? Let us know in the comments down below.
