There are few things harder than training for MMA full-time. Rolling on the mat, perfecting the punch with pads, and above all, springing to simulate an upcoming fight. All of this requires some serious mental and physical intensity that few people possess. With the risk of injuries, not many fighters can maintain an impressive physique always. Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor, especially with his recent transformation, isn’t one of them. As anybody following the journey of McGregor will tell you, the former Cage Warriors champ has always had a great physique.

But his recent physique made him look like a mini tank. Although no one can deny his hard work, equal credit goes to the people who work tirelessly behind the curtain to make this possible. It is said that muscles are broken in the gym, built in the bed, and repaired in the kitchen. In McGregor’s case, the kitchen department is guided by his nutritionist, Tristin Kennedy, who joined us for a chat with Noah Lack on the EssentiallySports exclusive ES Fancast. Holding a master’s degree in nutrition, no doubt Kennedy deserves all the credit for McGregor’s transformation. Obviously, the gentleman is proud of the recent results of his client’s transformation. But apart from him, there are a few other fighters in MMA who impress him. But who are they?

According to Kennedy, there are not many fighters who boast a great physique. But apart from McGregor, there are a few fighters who, according to Kennedy, look ‘shredded.’ One of them is ‘Brazilian Bazooka’ Edson Barboza. Currently active in the featherweight division, Barboza has been an active part of the UFC’s roster for more than a decade now. Apart from his devastating kicks, the fighter is well known for his jacked body. And it looks like Kennedy has taken notice.

Talking about Barboza, the nutritionist said, “like he’s absolutely shredded. I think I always looked at him and thought, ‘He’s inhaled bricks in the morning.'” Stretching his list further, the Trinity College Dublin alumnus also mentions Yoel Romero. A force of nature, few can deny Romero boasts one of the best physiques in MMA. Hence, it’s no surprise that he is on Tristin’s list. But what makes Romero extra special is he can boast such a physique at the age of 46, 9 years older than Barboza and the next entrant in Kennedy’s list.

A former Heavyweight champion also features in McGregor’s nutritionist’s list of the best physique

The next and final entry on Tristin Kennedy’s list might not bring a smile to Dana White and company, as it is none other than Francis Ngannou. An impressive feat to boast about, considering the sheer amount of muscle required to fill his gigantic frame. A former heavyweight champion, Ngannou is all set to make his professional boxing debut later this month against Tyson Fury.

Although Ngannou is no longer a part of the UFC, during his time with the promotion, he made a name for himself with his devastating knockouts, an attribute that sometimes showcases his other attributes, including his chiseled physique. Nonetheless, he is among the three best physiques according to Conor McGregor’s nutritionist, Tristin Kennedy.
