UFC commentator Joe Rogan is one of the most prominent names in the MMA universe. Interestingly, the 54-year-old was a mixed martial arts practitioner himself and took it as a career during his young days.

Unfortunately, because of several injuries, Rogan couldn’t pursue a career in MMA. Nevertheless, he is a big name in the sport today.

However, before reaching this position, Rogan during his earlier years had to work odd jobs. One of which was working at a construction site with his dad. During that period, Rogan befriended many drugs and alcohol addicts. He also used to work with them at the construction site.

During one of the episodes of his famous podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ Rogan with Greg Fitzsimmons, while discussing addiction, revealed a story from his time as construction labor.

He said, A lot of people on construction sites are either alcoholics or drug addicts. And there was this one guy that I really like. He is a funny guy, man really funny guy. And he’s in a band.”

“His name is Robbie. Funny f**king dude loved hanging around with him. But just couldn’t stay off the coke… And you know we would be working together… He would be talking to me while he is explaining to me how to do things and stuff like that.”

“And he is just like, yeah, I am just f**king tired of this. I am getting my sh*t together. The bands getting back together again and we are writing songs and this and that. And then he’d come on Monday looking like sh*t. Just looking like sh*t. Real grumpy didn’t wanna talk. Had a headache. And he would admit it.”

Rogan, after backing out of kickboxing, pursued a career in stand-up comedy. He has done shows in some of the most renowned clubs in America. He was also a host of the popular TV show, Fear Factor.
