At UFC Las Vegas 111, Gabriel Bonfim dominated the main event and knocked out Randy Brown. But that was not the talking point of the night. The Welterweight fighter created a ruckus among fans after they found out who he wishes to fight next.

It seems like Bonfim had already mapped out his next fight. After the knockout victory in round 2 of the main event, the Brazilian called out 37-year-old Colby Covington.

‘Chaos’ hasn’t fought a single fight in 2025, but he’s been called out by many fighters. This time, it was Gabriel Bonfim, who seemed interested in not only fighting the former interim champion but also ending his career. “I’m going to retire him,” Bonfim said during his post-fight Octagon interview.

Gabriel Bonfim was on fire at UFC Vegas 111. He systematically destroyed Randy Brown, even though the latter is considered a better striker than his Brazilian counterpart. Bonfim targeted his opponent’s lead leg with some serious calf kicks, leading Brown to switch stances. When the second round commenced, the Brazilian landed a clinch knee that dropped his opponent, and then he quickly followed it up with some strikes, before winning the fight and calling out Colby Covington.

Unfortunately for Gabriel Bonfim, fans don’t seem too interested in his callout. The consensus among fans is that the Brazilian fighter did make good use of his callout opportunity. Here’s what the fans had to say.

Fans claim Gabriel Bonfim ‘wasted’ his callout at UFC Vegas 111

Gabriel Bonfim has a 6-1 record in the UFC and is currently riding on a 4-fight winning streak. He’s currently ranked #14 in the welterweight rankings, so going for the #10-ranked Colby Covington may not be out of the question. A fan took to X to claim that this was a wasted callout, “What a waste of a callout. My God,” on a X post. Veteran journalist Ariel Helwani also shared the same sentiment. He wrote, “Wanna waste a callout in a main event slot? Call out Colby,” on X, expressing his displeasure with the callout.

Given that Gabriel Bonfim is on a winning streak, fans were hoping to see him fight someone ranked higher than Colby Covington. With comments like, “Why he call out a loser tho? He’s on a nice win streak,” it’s clear that there is no love lost between Covington and the fans.

Moreover, Colby Covington always makes calculated moves. And since his activity has slowed down over the past few years, a fan doubts that Gabriel Bonfim will get to fight the former interim welterweight champion. “Lol, good luck with that,” an X user commented in that regard. Also, fans have not forgotten the referee issue amid the betting investigation, which led one of them to call for Mark Smith to officiate Bonfim’s fight against Covington. “He better hope he gets the same ref.”

On the other hand, some fans doubted that Colby Covington, after watching what Gabriel Bonfim did to Randy Brown, would accept that fight. But more than that, they believe the lack of interest in this fight could sway ‘Chaos’ away from accepting the callout. “0 hype. Colby would never take that fight lol,” a fan wrote. However, not all fans were taking digs at Bonfim for the callout. Some fans are interested in watching him dismantle Covington. “Please do it’s time for Colby to go.”

Despite the overwhelming reactions from the fans calling out Gabriel Bonfim for wasting his callout, others believe that’s the fight for Dana White and Co. to make. What are your thoughts? Drop your comments below.
