The last time we saw Justin Gaethje was back at UFC 300 in April. ‘The Highlight’ put his BMF title on the line as he went one-on-one against the challenger, Max Holloway. Gaethje responded to Holloway’s exhortation to give his all in the last seconds after going full five rounds against ‘Blessed’; however, he was knocked out just ten seconds before the end of the final round.

‘The Highlight’ surely must’ve decided at that moment that it would be the last time that he ever gets knocked down before he finally hangs up his gloves. However, it seems like fate had something else in mind since he has now been dropped once more. But this time, it was his trainer who did the deed in a hilarious video that is taking the internet by storm.

Gaethje recently shared a training video on Instagram showing him and his coach, former UFC competitor Luke Caudillo, competing in a body shot challenge. One after the other, the two men exchanged body shots, exchanging blows for a few rounds. ‘The Highlight’ received four body shots in all, but he collapsed to the ground after the fifth.

Caudillo, who also re-posted the video on his Instagram, wrote a hilarious caption that surely made every fan chuckle. He wrote, “I like to take this moment and thank @coorslight @modelousa and @fiveninewhiskey for making my body strong enough to take shot for @justin_gaethje 😜.” Well, he did admit to using alcohol for making him almost invulnerable here. Something that even led Justin Gaethje to comment, “#steroid.”

Luke Caudillo truly pulled off the impossible here. Many fighters in the past, like Kamaru Usman, have stated that sparring with the ex-BMF is a really tough task that truly is not an enjoyable experience for any MMA fighter. So forcing Justin Gaethje to take a knee in sparring is quite an achievement. However, fans believe that it wasn’t all fun and games, as many felt worried that it might actually be signaling the end of the 35-year-old’s MMA career.

Fans in splits after the video goes viral

Justin Gaethje hasn’t fought since the UFC 300 knockout loss. The defeat truly shook his beliefs, as he stated that if he got knocked out again in any of his future fights, he would call it quits on his MMA career. He said, “Once I know that I cannot win an undisputed championship belt or fight for one, then I might as well hang up the gloves.” Now many fans believe the moment has come after they watched the fight. As some of the comments read, “I would eat these shots any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Gaethje is washed. His time is over.” “CTE, being 36 yo does that to you. Bro got dropped by his 50yo coach. Time to hang the gloves  up,” and “His MMA run is in its end already.” Another fan likened him to Tony Ferguson, who went from being the Boogeyman of the division to the faded MMA star on an eight-fight losing streak. “Don’t be another Ferguson.”

However, some fans were quick to lighten up the mood by calling out Luke Caudillo for using a hack. Fans claimed that the former UFC interim lightweight champion would’ve won if it wasn’t for Caudillo’s belly absorbing the shots. Some of the comments that shared the sentiments were, “Beer gut should be Usada tested” and “Performance-enhancing cheeseburgers.” One fan even warned Gaethje of trying to avoid another body shot contest with his instructor: “He’s got plenty of cushion @justin_gaethje don’t get into a bodyshot contest with him 😂”

As of right now, there are no fights booked for ‘The Highlight’, so it is still uncertain as to when his fans will get to see him again in the Octagon. But what do you think? Is Gaethje actually ‘washed up’ or does he still have a lot left in the tank? If yes, who should he fight next? Let us know in the comments.
