The news of the grand return of Georges St-Pierre back into the competitions has greatly excited the combat sports universe. However, with Gordon Ryan as a probable opponent for his comeback in December, GSP simply sat on the fence.

Previously, the man that many claim to be the BJJ G.O.A.T., expressed his views on getting a card against the former UFC welterweight champion. Although Ryan was on the road to recovery from the tonsillectomy and deviated septum fixation surgery, he was quite confident about landing against St-Pierre. But the storyline was a bit different on the other side.

Georges St-Pierre opines on Gordon Ryan as a possible opponent

?Rush? is all set to make a comeback to UFC Fight Pass Invitational in December 2023. In a recent talk regarding the return, the UFC threw some names at him as potential opponents. Names like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor, and Khamzat Chimaev swept past and he affirmed to fight them all. Howbeit, there was one name that gave him cold feet.?

GSP said, ?Gordon Ryan! If there was a guy I would not [want] to compete against in submission wrestling, that?s Gordon Ryan.? Although the former champion was confident against everyone else, he sternly refused to go against ?The Iron Dragon?.

The first-degree BJJ black belt and ADCC champion seemingly intimidated St-Pierre before his anticipated return. But that didn?t stop him from acknowledging the legend?s prowess. Nevertheless, Ryan wished to have a card with GSP.

?The Iron Dragon? wants to face off against ?Rush?

Previously, in an interview with Andrew Capucetti from ?Inside Fighting?, Ryan revealed his desire to fight GSP. Counted as one of the toughest grapplers in the modern world, ?Rush? has garnered a large fanbase. One of those fans was none other than Ryan.

During the interview, when asked about GSP?s return, the BJJ legend expressed his desire to engage in a grappling match with him. Furthermore, he even wanted to open discussions with the concerned officials and headline that particular card.
