It seems the UFC just can’t catch a break from the pullout tirade this year! The first potential banger of 2025 was derailed when Arman Tsarukyan pulled out of his highly anticipated UFC 311 title bout against Islam Makhachev. Then, Dan Hooker’s broken hand scrapped his UFC 313 co-main event clash with Justin Gaethje. Injury after injury has plagued the promotion, and now, UFC Vegas 107 is hanging by a thread.
Why? The explosive matchup between Jeremiah Wells and Andreas Gustafsson is reportedly off. But Dana White might have just found a lifeline. UFC Vegas 107 has taken a significant hit to an already underwhelming card. It is a major setback for Wells, who was set to make his UFC debut after competing on Dana White’s Contender Series. While the reason for Wells’ withdrawal has not been disclosed, many believe an undisclosed injury could be the cause.
The UFC head honcho is searching for an opponent for Gustafsson, and it looks like he may have found someone who could save the card from turning into a complete disaster. Just when the welterweight fight was on the verge of being entirely scrapped, former DWCS fighter Amiran Gogoladze stepped up, channeling his inner Carly Rae Jepsen as he quoted the 2011 hit single ‘Call Me Maybe’ to save the event.

Uploading his photo on his X handle, Gogoladze wrote, “Hey, I’ve been training and this is crazy. But I want my debut, so call me maybe. It’s hard to wait, but I’m fight-ready. So book me at #UFCVegas107 and call me maybe.”
For the unversed, Amiran Gogoladze lost his DWCS bout against Darrius Flowers back in 2022, and since then, he has been working to earn a spot in the UFC. Now riding a three-fight winning streak under the OKTAGON promotion, the Georgian fighter is looking to make his official UFC debut. But will he get his wish? It remains to be seen!

Now, you might be wondering—why is the Georgian fighter so optimistic about his UFC debut despite the DWCS loss? Well, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Remember Kyle Prepolec, the fighter who stepped in as a substitute for Joel Alvarez against Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 315? Yes, he was also on a two-fight losing streak and had been out of the UFC.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Amiran Gogoladze's bold move save UFC Vegas 107, or is it too little, too late?

But when Dana White needed a last-minute replacement, the Canadian got the call and signed with the UFC at the very last moment. Well, now that we know about the pullout news. Let’s have a look at what the stakes are for the banger headliners.

What’s in the store for UFC Vegas 107?
Taking place at the Apex Arena, UFC Vegas 107 will be headlined by a high-stakes flyweight bout between Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber. Riding a six-fight winning streak, Barber will be looking to extend her run, as a victory over Blanchfield could cement her status as the next title contender in the flyweight division.
With a career record of 14 victories and 2 defeats, Barber has established herself as one of the most well-rounded fighters in the women’s flyweight division. Currently ranked #5, she will step into the Octagon to face Blanchfield, who sits just above her at #4 in the rankings. A victory for either of them will give them a chance to fight for the title against Valentina Shevchenko, who is currently expected to fight Natalia Silva or Zhang Weili in a superfight after recording a 10th title fight win at UFC 315 against Manon Fiorot.

In addition to the headliner fight, the event will be co-main by Mateusz Gamrot, who will be fighting Ludovit Klein. Currently sitting at the #7 spot in the lightweight division, the Polish grappler is riding a one fight losing streak after losing to Dan Hooker. On the other hand, Klein is riding a four-fight winning streak, but he has yet to be ranked in the lightweight division. If he secures a victory against Gamrot, there’s a strong possibility he could replace Joel Alvarez in the rankings.
Well, the UFC Vegas 107 card is sort of stacked, but it still needs its welterweight fight. Do you think the UFC CEO will take Amiran Gogoladze’s words into consideration? State your opinion in the comments below.
