“Get Him to Face Off With Islam” – Fans Go Berserk as Conor McGregor and Petr Yan Turn Foes Inside the Ring in Unexpected Move

The former double-weight champion, Conor McGregor is all over the internet these days. There is hardly any fighter in the promotion with the same stardom as McGregor. ‘The Notorious’ in his recent escapade had an intense staredown with the former bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, leaving the combat community confused.

The fighter is supposed to make a comeback soon but the dates are yet to be decided. In a bid for his return, McGregor has been attending various events and in one such event, he stared down Petr Yan. It feels as if you give him the opportunity, Conor McGregor will face off with anyone.

At the IBA Night of Champions event held at the Agenda Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, there was quite a spectacle as McGregor had an unexpected encounter with the significantly smaller former bantamweight, Petr Yan. The clash of sizes and backgrounds added an intriguing element to the event.

The combat enthusiasts were left confused by the sudden staredown between the former champions. As soon as the video of their confrontation went viral fans took to the internet to express their opinion. Some of the comments by the fans are as follows:-

One of the fans stated that a fight between Yan and McGregor would be sick.

“This would be a sick fight”

Another stated that Yan was just happy to be there.

“Petr is just happy to be there”

Furthermore, one of the fans stated that Yan was confused by McGregor’s actions.

“Yan just looks slightly confused as to why Conor looks so serious”

Moreover, one asserted that McGregor is having a faceoff with everyone except Michael Chandler

“Conor facing off with everyone but Chandler”

A fan said that McGregor was just putting up a show.

“Conor is putting a show on for the camera but if you’ll seen the whole thing, they hug at the end”

One of the fans wanted McGregor to have a faceoff with Islam Makhahchev

“Get him to face off with Islam” 

Last but not least, one of the fans gave us insights about the weight difference

“Conor fights at 170. Yan at 135. Do the math casuals.”

The fans are undoubtedly confused by the sudden confrontation by the former champions. Fans stated that Conor McGregor was just putting up a show and at the end of the video they hugged each other. Nonetheless, the most interesting part of the event is that even Islam Makhachev was there to witness it.

The evening took an unexpected turn with the reigning UFC lightweight champion seated on the opposite side of the squared circle from McGregor. What added to the intrigue was Makhachev’s longstanding friendship and training partnership with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The situation was undeniably awkward, but the event organizers showed foresight by strategically placing both UFC stars on opposite sides, diffusing potential tension. It must be noted that both the fighters have not engaged against each other since their last confrontation in the McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov match.
