UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Emmett had excitement and disappointment. The main card opener between Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon never happened as the latter pulled out because of an injury. This cancellation led to UFC President Dana White comparing this fight to the Khabib Nurmagomedov-Tony Ferguson cancelation saga.

In the post-fight press conference, White was asked if he would re-book the fight between Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon. The UFC President replied, “Probably not. That thing’s getting like Tony and Khabib. No, I will not book that fight again.”
While giving an update on Cerrone, White said, “He just cut that weight yesterday…We all wanted to see if he wanted to fight in July. He doesn’t want to cut weight again. So, he won’t fight in July. We will figure something else out with him.”

There is disappointment among the fans about how things played out. This is because the fight between Cerrone and Lauzon has been canceled twice now.
The two cancelations of the fight between Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon
Just like the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson, some fights simply don’t happen. One such fight which took a similar course is the one between Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon.

The two fighters were first set to fight at UFC 274. However, the bout didn’t go ahead as Cerrone pulled out. While initially, the reason behind his withdrawal wasn’t clear, it was later revealed that ‘Cowboy’ suffered from food poisoning.
Later, the fight got re-booked to take place at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Emmett and both fighters even made weight. Unfortunately, hours before the event, this bout met the scrapheap as Joe Lauzon suffered an injury to his knee.

It is an unfortunate circumstance that fans won’t get to see the two fighters compete against each other. However, it will be interesting to see what’s in store for Cerrone and Lauzon in the future.
