#1 ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns shared an empathetic message for his colleagues who are looking to face the ax. It was a really nice gesture on the fighter’s part, to say the least.

It is true that some fighters are going to get a hard time finding a new promotion after the cut. That applies even to the top and most popular fighters. Even Yoel Romero has been dismissed as a possible signing by the likes of Bellator MMA and PFL.

Maybe age is the factor for the former UFC middleweight title challenger. The Cuban fighter is now 43, but he still is one of the best in the world and can beat anybody on a good day.

Burns is currently on a 6 fight win streak with his latest being a dominant decision win over former champion Tyron Woodley.

Kamaru Usman has been out since his successful title defense at UFC 251 against Jorge Masvidal. His former teammate Burns is expected to put up a stiff challenge for the champion.

It was a great gesture though, on Burns’ part to give his advice to the UFC fighters getting the cut. Some of them will really have a hard time ahead after having lost their livelihood.
