Gilbert Burns submitted Neil Magny in their high-stakes welterweight bout at UFC 283 in the Jeunesse Arena in Brazil. Neil Magny, holder of the most wins in UFC welterweight history, could not add Burns to his collection. Burns finished the show inside one round after getting his submission locked in.

Burns’ last outing was against Khamzat Chimaev in early 2022. ‘Durinho‘ pushed the Swedish hitman to his limits, unlike no one before. However, he lost the fight in a close decision. Therefore, he entered the cage at UFC 283 with a point to prove.

Both Magny and Burns came into the fight 3-2 in their last 5 outings.

Burns started off strong and stayed switched on throughout the fight. After a few short exchanges on the feet, the Brazilian secured a takedown. Slowly and methodically, the jiujitsu black belt secured an arm triangle and squeezed the tap out of Magny.
