Rob Font earned a dominant unanimous decision win over Cody Garbrandt in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Font vs Garbrandt. After defeating a former champion with a statement performance, he has set his sights on yet another former kingpin of the division. Font wants to fight Petr Yan next.

Yan lost his belt at UFC 259 after landing an illegal knee on his opponent, Aljamain Sterling. He is expected to rematch ‘Funkmaster’ next. However, an injury to Sterling has postponed a probable date for that fight. There have been a handful of fighters calling out ‘No Mercy’ for a fight in the meantime. Font is the latest addition to that list.

“Gimme Petr Yan right now, then we get it going. I doubt that happens maybe. I don’t know we’ll see what’s up. But give me Petr Yan. He’s the only one that’s available. And make it happen, you know, like the fans want to see exciting fights. I know that’s an exciting fight. And then I’ll take care of the belt for you. Sit back, don’t worry about the belt, I’ll take care of it,” said Font.

It’s unlikely Yan would want to fight as he is guaranteed to have his rematch against Sterling before anybody else. So Font might have to look elsewhere for an opponent.

Rob Font wants either Cory Sandhagen or T.J. Dillashaw
Yet another stellar bantamweight clash between Sandhagen and Dillashaw is coming up. The UFC just made that fight official for a July 24 card. If a fight against Yan doesn’t materialize, Font is interested in fighting either Sandhagen or Dillashaw.

“But or, or the winner or the loser or winner, whoever, of the Cory Sandhagen fight. Definitely don’t want to wait that long. You know, as far as I go again, you never know what happens. Whoever gets hurt or injured and the and other waiting lists we do tend to be on,” Font added.

However, Font isn’t willing to fight anybody ranked lower than him in the division at the moment. Hence, his options are limited and he may have to wait.

It will be interesting to see who the UFC matches him up against next. But after his last performance against a former champion like Garbrandt, it’s only fitting that he gets a cream of the crop opponent next.
