Joe Rogan, known for his bold takes on his Spotify podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ had something to say back when Disney dropped Gina Carano from ‘The Mandalorian.’ In light of the legal drama now surrounding Gina Carano, perhaps it only makes sense to bring up the time when Rogan defended the former Strikeforce star from the allegations made against her.
So what had really happened? Carano had gone public in a statement mentioning the Holocaust and the backlash was quick and severe. At the time, she starred in the much-touted Star Wars spin-off show, ‘The Mandalorian’ which had Pedro Pascal as its leading man. Carano starred as Cara Dune alongside Pascal for two seasons before Lucasfilm dropped her over her comments. Here’s how Rogan stood by her side.

Joe Rogan wasn’t really offended by Carano’s statements

It would seem that Joe Rogan is just as much of a free speech advocate as UFC CEO Dana White. He opened up about how Carano’s statement had more to do with how people from different backgrounds saw one another and it is a very contemporary issue too.

Of course, those of different opinions will never see eye-to-eye and Rogan pointed out the polarization it has caused in the world, or specifically, in the United States. All of that, in light of Carano’s firing, perhaps he wanted to stand by the side of the former MMA icon.

“I mean essentially she was just talking about how, there’s like a tendency in human beings to think of other people that think differently than you as being others,” Rogan said. “They’re not us, they’re others, and you know she (Carano) equated it to the Holocaust which is like, as soon as you do that people are like ‘oh boy don’t f*cking compare anything to the Holocaust’ and then they fired her, but I don’t think that what she said was outrageous or egregious or awful.”

The UFC commentator added, “I think she was just trying to say that this political divide in this country that separates people and so polarizing, is unhealthy and there’s a natural tribal instinct that people have to look at people from other tribes as being the enemy and that we were doing this. . .”

Now, Carano is taking Lucasfilm and its parent company Disney to the courts after alleging that she was fired over voicing her opinion on X (formerly Twitter). Interestingly, Elon Musk, who promised to help anyone with legal troubles over voicing their opinions on his platform is actually showing up for his promise and helping her fund the lawsuit.

An odd duo against Disney, will Carano and Musk fight together?

Yet another advocate of free speech, Elon Musk has agreed to provide financial support for Carano’s bill of the lawsuit. The platform promised to not let anyone get “bullied” or “harassed” for posting how they felt online and that’s just how Carano will benefit from being an X user. Carano herself has stepped forward to say that her strong political opinions have been mislabeled by many.

She also complained that the star of The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal was not fired for voicing his opinion on the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, which was in similar and opposite light of Carano’s. She alleged that Pascal was not similarly punished for comparing Trump to Hitler. Now that the lawsuit will be fought out in court soon, do you believe Carano will triumph?
