I think the whole scenario is weird: – Leon Edwards

It’s anticipated that Donald Trump will play a significant role in the UFC’s last installment. The former U.S. President has confirmed his attendance for UFC 296. In the event of Colby Covington emerging victorious against Leon Edwards, the contender has openly shared his intention for the politician to personally place the welterweight title around his waist.

Covington’s words left the reigning champion perplexed. At today’s UFC 296 media day, ‘Rocky’ shared his thoughts on the American’s comments and his association with Donald Trump. Edwards expressed his surprise at Covington’s statement. “I don’t know; I think the whole scenario is weird. That’s what I think the make of it is. I don’t get the fascination with another man, you know? I don’t get it. I know he used to be the president and stuff, but he’s no longer the president, so I don’t get like what’s going on” voiced Edwards.

He further stated that Trump’s not putting any belt on Covington’s because he is going to defeat him. Edwards added “And I don’t know; it’s just weird why he picked him just to be a character off the back of him, you know? I just don’t get it. And Trump wrapping nothing around his waist because he ain’t getting about if Trump has been to UFC before when he’s lost, so Trump can’t fight for him. Um, yeah, just need to grow up and go get a girlfriend or something.”

Edwards believes Covington will not be able to defeat him

He further explained, “He’s a guy who’s been stopped before by TKO, choked out before, and taken down before. There are many ways that you can beat him. He’s just a normal fighter that’s more scrappy, basically. Me and my team have come up with a great game plan to neutralize what he’s good at. My aim is to go out there and take him out.”
