Conor McGregor has become quite the business mogul in the last couple of years. The first and former two-division UFC champion is also the wealthiest mixed martial artist in the sport’s history. A veritable entrepreneur, ‘The Notorious’ has used his superstardom and natural showmanship to not only help MMA become a mainstream sport, but also leverage it to find a series of successful business ventures.

Just recently, the Dubliner was given a (minority) ownership stake in the BKFC, where he is expected to serve a largely ambassadorial role. But, the feather in his cap, undoubtedly, was his liquor brand, ‘Proper No. Twelve’, the sale of which netted him between $100-150 million in 2021. What seems closest to his heart, however, is The Black Forge Inn, which, unfortunately, has been going through a tough time. The tide, nevertheless, seems to be turning.

Conor McGregor shows off The Black Forge Inn earnings

In 2021, Conor McGregor bought a pub in the suburb of Walkingtown a few miles from the city center of the Irish capital of Dublin. The Dubliner christened the pub, for which he paid a reported $2.1 million, ‘The Black Forge Inn’. Because he bought the pub in ’21, amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, the property quite predictably struggled financially. This was due to the lockdown and social distancing measures implemented throughout the world, including Ireland, which meant restaurants and pubs had to shut operations temporarily.

However, it seems the tide is turning for the pub nearly three years after it opened. Conor McGregor, ever the braggart, took to Instagram and flaunted the weekly earnings of ‘The Forge’. He posted a picture of forty bundles of 50 Euro bills, which, assuming a hundred bills in every bundle totals up to 200k Euros.

The pub has already cost the 35-year-old dearly, having lost him seven figures since it started operating in ’21. Mcgregor invested a significant amount, around $2 million to buy and build up the Black Forge Inn. In the first year of its operation, however, the pub, according to public filings, lost $1.8 million.

Over the next year, it posted a loss of $600,000, which means ‘The Notorious’ has lost over $2.4 million since buying the property. However, it seems, based on the Irishman’s social media post, the tide is turning. And despite his recent business successes, the former champion seems focused on one thing at the moment.

McGregor’s reputation as a fighter at stake against Chandler in UFC 303

After over six months of uncertainty and pleading, Conor McGregor finally has a comeback date. It was announced by UFC CEO Dana White last month that Conor McGregor will face rival Michael Chandler at the top of UFC 303 in a welterweight bout. This fight will be a momentous occasion as it will mark the UFC’s biggest star’s return to the octagon after three years of inactivity. And a lot is at stake.

‘Notorious’ is coming into the bout following a potentially career-ending injury, consecutive losses, three years out of the octagon, and advancing age. This, of course, has led some to predict that McGregor, who already looked to be on a decline over the past half a decade, will no longer be able to compete with a top contender like Chandler, let alone fight for the title.

This, of course, means the pressure is on McGregor to prove to the world that he is not done, and still has what it takes to fight the top guys. And that precisely is when McGregor, ever the competitor, is at his best. What are your predictions about UFC 303?
